Our room had a comfortable bed, newer looking furniture, newer TV, and was decently sized. Door locks are with an RFID tagged card, so no worrying about a magnetic strip being erased. The room came with a microwave and fridge which did their jobs.
Don't expect to be informed of this by hotels - you often have to request the refund, and hoteliers are well familiar with this.
Which leads me to the owners. Many states and counties impose a tax on hotel rooms, which you are exempt from if you stay over 30 days. After 30 days, you are no longer considered to be staying in a transient accommodation, so some of the taxes you've paid are refunded.
The bathroom and sink area had a lot of dust on certain surfaces. The microwave and fridge looked like they'd barely had a cloth wiped over them in months - thankfully I keep Clorox wipes in our car.
I wouldn't say I hate this motel because the breakfast and pool were great! I will say it does need much improvement on cleaning of the rooms! I have posted pictures for everyone to see because it needs to be known. Someone could get sick and what if little babies are crawling on these floors? Yikes! My daughter has asthma so seeing the black mold really scared me! Some of the staff were pretty rude I asked for more towels and she said " if I give you towels today you won't get any tomorrow"! Wow! I ran out of toilet paper I am unaware of the outcome of that because I didn't ask by that time I was leaving. Prices for the room is good I think the motel needs serious deep cleaning it's a very dirty PLACE. I will never stay at another red roof inn again. Proceed with caution!
Heater didnt work 9 degrees outside, room only warmed to 53 degrees. Stains on walls. Besides that... fairly clean, comfy and safe. Friendly helpful staff and a pretty good little breakfast. You get what you pay for.
The pros: Red Roof has a "pets welcome" policy, nationally. Very useful if you have to travel with pets..
The cons: The carpeting was far beyond its "expiration date". It was tattered, dirty and had what appeared to be blood stains near the door.
Maintenance and housekeeping staff were friendly, as were a few of the front desk staff. But other front desk staff were clueless or rude. The hotel provides a free hot continental breakfast. Don't try to take it back to your room, however - the gestapo will stop you.
And keep in mind - most of the hotels nearby are owned by members of the same family and close friends. They vacation together, socialize together, and run their businesses in a similar manner.
The room was good the front desk was kinda of friendly. The breakfast was horrible with stale biscuits. Overall not a bad stay for the price of $42
I feel like this guy may very well be taking full advantage of the system to his own benefit, because so many travelers are not knowledgeable about the laws governing stays of 30 days or more.
There were missing knobs on drawers, a sink that leaked all over the place, and a smoke detector in need of a battery change.
They are NOT interested in putting customers first. And I'll leave it at that.
This owner will give you a song and dance about it, as if hoping you'll forget. He'll try and make it seem as if he's doing you a favor, and isn't sure if he can refund you since he has "already paid the tax", even when he hasn't since it isn't after the 15th of the month.
And don't bother with the eggs or sausages - they're awful. The juices are clearly watered down as well.
The AC/Heater looked older than I am, and constantly had to be adjusted to keep the room comfortable.
Zero stars. The first room they put me in was room #228, it was missing a tv. I complained to the front desk and the clerk moved me to room 220. In room 220 there was hair in the tub, on the bathroom floor, in the sink, and hair in the bed sheets. My husband killed 3 stink bugs in the first 10 minutes of checking in. At 5 AM I tried to turn on the air conditioning and it did not work. When I called to complain to the front desk he said there was nothing he could do about it he already moved me once. I called the next day to complain to the owner and he tried to justify how dirty his hotel room was. He belittled me and made me as a woman feel worthless and unimportant. I asked for a refund on my hotel room and he told me that I already slept in it that it was too bad. I called corporate and got a refund and they are looking into my complaints so they can make changes. When looking for a hotel don't stay here it is filthy, so filthy we left without showering.
We were lodged here for over a month due to damage to, and subsequent loss of, our home.
